design & coaching for kitchen gardeners
Your kitchen garden is where you find grounding in the practice of growing—and the satisfaction of harvesting food and flowers you’ve tended yourself.
our services
Mary Buri—garden designer, coach, and speaker—started Mars Kitchen Garden in 2020 to help her neighbors in Westchester and Fairfield counties get growing. Since then, she has worked with more than 200 gardeners, designing raised bed gardens and providing one-on-one coaching to help gardeners at every level grow with confidence.
why do i garden?
i want to eat organic, hyper-local food
From spring through fall, I plan meals around what’s growing in the garden. I know exactly how our vegetables, fruits, & herbs have gotten to our plates, and I am proud of the earth-loving, nature-hugging sustainable practices that got them there.
I find great joy in
the growing process
Food grows slowly and needs a lot of attention. And it’s in that waiting and tending—and learning—that I find a very easy peace. Gardening is a practice. It humbles but rewards greatly. It’s slow but steadies the soul.
i am spoiled on homegrown flavor
And so are my kids. They eat more veggies because they’re homegrown. Because when you watch for three months as a cabbage grows from seedling to full head, you’re invested. And homegrown simply tastes better.
